(5.6) Appraisal [of the Empresses and Consorts]

Appraisal States: The families of Wèi’s Empresses and Consorts, though said to be wealthy and noble, were never once like those of Hàn’s decline that took advantage to seize control of the Court and government. Reflecting on the past to change course, in this it was beautiful. Recalling and reading Chén Qún’s comments and Zhàn Qián’s discussion, they are appropriate and sufficient to be admonishing canons for a hundred kings, a passed down statute example to later eras.

評曰:魏后妃之家,雖云富貴,未有若衰漢乘非其據,宰割朝政者也。鑒往易軌,於斯為美。追觀陳群之議,棧潛之論,適足以為百王之規典,垂憲範乎後葉矣。
