Appraisal states: Huà Tuó’s medical examinations, Dù Kuí’s tones and music, Zhū Jiànpíng’s physiognomy techniques, Zhōu Xuān’s study of dreams, Guǎn Lù’s divination by stalks, truly all were the special ingenuity of the mysterious and profound, consummate skill out of the ordinary. In the past the scribe [Sīmǎ] Qiān wrote of the biographies of Biǎn Què, Cāng-gōng, Rì Zhě, in order to spread their unusual reputations and demonstrate their marvelous affairs. Therefore they are preserved and recorded thus.

評曰：華佗之醫診，杜夔之聲樂，朱建平之相術，周宣之相夢，管輅之術筮，誠皆玄妙之殊巧，非常之絕技矣。昔史遷著扁鵲、倉公、日者之傳，所以廣異聞而表奇事也。故存錄云爾。
